Very nice...thanks for sharing!!
I like the design: the asymmetry really adds something.
On the slide out (a nice idea) - does it lock in the extended position?
Glenn, your hutch is gorgeous. I have been searching for ideas for a kitchen hutch for my son and his wife. Do you have a set of plans that you would be willing to share with me that I could use as a starting point for my own design? How wide and tall is your hutch? Are all of the panels raised?
To Robin63 - Thanks for the kind words. The plan is really just an overall drawing that I would be glad to share if it was anything helpful. The hutch is about 52" wide, 74" tall and 22" deep.
As a starting point I based the dimensions primarily on what I planned to store, then on the space it would occupy and then I tweaked it with ratios that were pleasing to me. This was both refreshing and disturbing for the same reason; the only person I had to answer to was myself ;-)
To user-2398562 - The slide out does not lock but, the damped ball bearing glides do seem to keep it in position. This would not be enough resistance to make me comfortable if I were using it as a serving table for spill-ables however.
To Robin again - Sorry, I forgot to comment on the panels. The doors on the upper unit are raised and floating. The small and large drawer faces are raised panels only. the side panels are all flat and floating.
