Box Elder and Walnut Hollow Form Vase
Handmade wood turned hollow form vase made with black walnut, box elder burl, and thin inlays of fiddle back maple and black wood. The shape is reminiscent of a Grecian urn or Egyptian canopic jars with gentle and graceful curves. The top portion, with the box elder burl, has three hand carved beads that flow around the circumference of the vase and are off set with a black line to add decorative interest to the form. Finished to a high gloss.
Approximately 12 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter.

Superb design and execution! It works very well on a number of levels due to the elegant shape and selected wood types.
I can't quite visualise how you do the inlay .... But it works!
