Box project – Mystery wood?
I was asked to make a box for a friends 60th from some local storm damaged small lignum vitae and mahogany trunks I planked on my bandsaw, (black and white striped box) so I made two tigerwood and a ‘mystery’ wood boxes at the same time, trying out my incra positioner. The yellowish ‘mystery’ wood washed up on the beach outside my house, so I cut it and left it to dry for a year and was amazed with the complexity of the grain.. No idea whatsoever what type of wood it is, but would love to know if anyone else has any ideas? It has very curly grain and a strong yellow color throughout, very light and easy to work with and takes a great polish. Finished with 2 coats of tung oil and 3 coats of bees wax.

Come on you Fine Woodworkers.. Forget the joinery is made by machine for a moment.. What wood is it.. I am sure there must be someone on here who might have an idea? Cannot find anything remotely similar on the wood data base.. Closest I could find was mango wood?
Where do you live?
I live in the Caribbean in the Turks & Caicos Islands
Not sure if the continent is right, but looks like canarywood to me.
