Mahogany Dining Chair
Woodworker: Cosmo Barbaro
Inspired by dentil details on Egyptian furniture, Barbaro made a series of pieces with a similar decorative treatment, including this mahogany dining chair (17 in. deep by 20 in. wide by 36 in. tall). He made the dentils by inlaying squares of wenge and fiddleback maple into the seat rails and chair back. Barbaro used bent lamination to make the back, upholstered the seat with nubuck leather, and finished the chair with Bartley’s gel varnish.
