Steam-Bent Coffee Table
Woodworker: Jason Hebert
The idea for Hebert’s coffee table (48 in. dia. by 17 in. tall) arose during the bending and laminating segment of CFC’s nine-month program. To build the piece, Hebert steam-bent strips of ash and joined them into hoops with copper rivets. He used short sections of threaded steel rod secured with epoxy to attach one hoop to the next.
Hebert completed this piece as a student at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine.
