Cherry and Maple Blanket Chest

Blanket Chest from FWW #203 just a bit shorter with only one panel on each side. It is made from cherry and maple. I finished it with shellac and wipe on poly.
This is my first attempt at a chest and I am very pleased with the way it came out. I used a lot of different techiques that helped me through this project all from FWW. I was my first attempt at butt hinges and a short video helped me get it right.

I used slip tennons using Michael Fortune mortizing jig. I also used through tennons from the sides.

Showing the foot and the through tennon. It sticks out 2 mm. I shellaced the ends before glue up and that worked very well. I cut the mortises with the router on the jig and the tennons using the bandsaw and a spacer method that I saw on one of the FWW videos and that worked very well.
