Coachmaker’s Plow Plane
Woodworker: Jan Nezar
This plane, which Nezar built for a customer, is a reproduction of the exceptionally rare “Falconer” coachmaker’s plow plane, which was intended for plowing grooves into workpieces with curved sides, often to inlay bandings. The characteristic feature of this plane is its flexible steel fence, which can be adjusted to match a wide range of radii. The plane is primarily made from Indian rosewood, and features steel, bronze, and brass components. It’s finished with Danish oil, and took Nezar 120 hours to complete.
