My new Little tool chest
I designed and builded this small tool chest specially for travelling… I intend to go to America in a wooden boatbuildind school, that is the reason why I need a light tool chest witch I can send abroad without ruining myself ( I’m currently living in Switzerland). In order to reduce the weight, I made it out of spruce (and trust me I regret this choice). I know that for some people a tool chest must be a modest box only made for the purpose of carrying tools. I learned the fact that the Japanese for instance would find this tool chest far too fancy, but in Switzerland we believe that a tool chest is a kind of businesscard for woodworkers so I added some useless fancy joints. The ” corner” joint are Nejiri arigata ( a sort of Japanese dovetail). The top of the chest is in fact a wooden frame constructed with piged tenons & mortises joints witch is glued to the top with a rabbet joint. For strap I just bolted a piece of seatbelt to the body of the chest. I screwed Some metallic corners, inches and lock et voila….:)

Very good job, would you consider making a tool tray for this tool chest?
