Wooden Planter
The timber for the Planter.
I made this simple wooden planter from offcuts that were lying around my workshop after making wooden garage doors – it’s always good to create something useful from wood that would otherwise go to waste!
The planter uses:
4 Uprights: 430mm x 45mm x 45mm
4 Horizontal Rails: 290mm x 45mm x 45mm
Tongue & Groove boarding: 16 at 382mm long
Tongue & Groove boarding for inner base: 2 at 350mm
Wood Glue
Screws: 8 Number x 100mm x 6.0
Screws: 32 Number x 40mm x 5.0

The timber for the Planter.

The Uprights were marked out and pre-drilled, which made it possible to drill into the Horizontal Rails.

Once the frame was screwed together, glue was added to secure the boarding.

The boarding was screwed into place on the outside of the Uprights. For this size planter boarding was enough to join the two frames.
The base is made from two boards that sit on the lower rails.

It looks great with a plant inside!
