Bubinga and walnut coffee table

Hand carved legs are shaped from 3 pieces of walnut each
Both top and bottom shelf are made from a single slab of bubinga, resawn and bookmatched. Legs are made of 3 big blocks of walnut attached with double through tenons and then the bulk was removed with an angle grinder with special wood carving blade attached. This is my first real original design.

Interesting design. How did you accommodate for seasonal movement in the captured shelf? Guessing at the shelf width of about 14" wide and typical season conditions in the Mid-Atlantic you would be looking at about 1/4" of seasonal movement in that shelf.
Man this really is a beautiful little table. I myself am a table guy and you have my admiration. But my thoughts were also with Ralph's. Wood movement on the lower shelf might be an issue. From the photos maybe we can't see what allowances you made. Very nice indeed.
The bottom shelf is attached with table-top fasteners to a groove routed into the stretchers holding it up. It's not screwed or glued down. Thanks for the comments! This was actually the second go-round because I originally used white oak for the legs and I hated it. Had to disassemble the whole thing and make a new base while keeping the top.
