Diamon-Patterned Humidor
Woodworker: Les Cizek
Cizek had a plank of wild tamarind in his shop for several months, so when his son asked him to make a humidor, he designed this piece (9 in. deep by 15 in. wide by 8 in. tall) around the wood, which had amazing figure at one end and straight grain everywhere else. The box top features diamond-pattern veneer, attached using a vacuum bag. The little drawer on the side is used to store a cigar clipper and other gear, and the box has a device in the top to keep the humidity at the proper level. The box also includes ebony and holly.
