Asymmetrical End Table
This project was the first piece of fine furniture I have made. I deisgned and built this piece for a introductory woodworking class at my college. I was greatly inspired by an article in Fine Wood Working about the work of Jere Osgood.

Beautiful. Being a closet engineer I would really like to see how you supported the tabletop, but still the design is beautiful. I'd give it a A+.
Thanks for the interest hhmcadonald. There are four arms that reach out roughly over the tips of the legs. The arms are joined to the legs with a simple mortise and tenon joint. The arms are then connected to the four corner of the table top with 1/4 walnut dowels. you can see the arms best in photos # 4 and 5. If you checkout my website you can see how the arms interact with the legs and the table in some of the sketches.
beautiful and highly creative.
So much furniture today is a variation of the same thing: like a box for an end table. It's really refreshing to see someone thinking out of the "box". It looks great!
