This madrone wall cabinet was built for my first semester project as a student at college of the redwoods.
The carcase is assembled with wedged through tenons, mortises chopped and tenons cut by hand. The front door is coopered, and all of the pulls are hand carved. The “Owl Ears” at the top and bottom of the sides are hand carved as well. The knife hinges on a curved front cabinet like this have to have an acute angle on them to match the angle of the door and still stick straight out, so I had to make the hinges as well.
the back panel is a frame and panel with a doussie panel. The drawer fronts are Doussie as well. The rest of the drawers are camphor for that beautiful smell. The wedges in the tenons are burmese blackwood.
