I designed and built Tubby as an entrance piece for a home. Tubby the soldier has three full extension soft close drawers for storage. His head rotates on a Lazy Susan type of mechanism. his hand hold items like pocket books, and umbrellas. His hat flips open to store keys, wallets, cash etc. Even the top of his hat swivels to reveal yet another hiding spot.

Most of the work is bent lamination, the hardwood trim is ash. I handpainted all of the details and gilded areas like the chevrons in 23 K gold leaf. I collected actual military medals and service pins and mounted them in place. The drawer pulls are solid brass. Tubby stands about 4.5 feet wide and about the same in total height.
