Hand Carved Leaf Table
Woodworker: Greg Brown
While designing this table (20 in. dia. by 30 in. tall), Brown sought to represent natural growth with fluid lines and foliage sprouting from the legs. The table is built from local sugar maple and maple burl veneer. The hand-carved leaves rest on a dished top, which is meant to mimic a pool of water. Brown finished it with Behlen Rockhard Table Top Varnish and buffed the top to a mirror finish to enhance the illusion of water.

This table is an absolute work of art! The lines, proportions and location of their transitions were obviously well thought out, allowing the idea of the piece to easily draw the eye without any aesthetic distractions.
For someone with aspirations of one day learning to carve, this type of artistic craftsmanship is truly inspirational. Well done Greg! Keep 'em coming!
