Shoe Storage Bench
Woodworker: Larry Stroud
Stroud’s shoe storage bench (17 in. deep by 53 in. wide by 27-1/2 in. tall) won the Best Furniture Piece award. It’s made of kwila and mahogany with madrone pulls and is finished with waxed shellac. Stroud carved and painted the twill pattern on the front door panels with milk paint to soften the look of the mahogany. The panels are reversible and feature a black and gray-blue set of winter colors on the other side.
The Sonoma County Woodworkers Association recently hosted its 34th annual at the Sonoma County Museum in Santa Rosa, Calif. Thirty-one woodworkers from all over California brought 57 entries including furniture, turnings, art pieces, and instruments to the monthlong, juried exhibition, visited by more than 3,000 patrons.
