Walnut Three-Legged Chair and Wall-Hung Slab Table
Woodworker: Eric Ervin
This three-legged chair (19 in. deep by 14 in. wide by 30 in. tall) is Ervin’s take on Tage Frid’s classic design. Ervin gave the legs an outward splay to increase the chair’s footprint and carved a scooped recess out of the back. The solid-walnut chair uses dovetail and wedged-tenon construction. The accompanying wall-mounted table (18 in. deep by 45 in. wide) is a walnut slab with sliding-dovetail joinery and ziricote butterfly keys. Ervin designed it to serve as a writing surface, entry console, or bar. The finish on both is Mohawk Finishing’s modified tung oil.
