I-Phone amplifier….2.1 

I had to try one more…..This is the single “speaker version that allows the phone to be placed in the upright position or on its side. The open slots (see pictures) allow for sound transmission in either  position, and the phone my be placed horizontally for charging hookup.This one is made from walnut with accent strips of maple around the speaker (input) openings. I have included a sketch of the plan for the middle layer. The back piece is simply drilled with a succession of forstner bits to create a stepped cone at the back, and the projecting circular extension gives the “speaker” a bit more depth. A tapered foot at the back allows the stand to tilt back. Middle and back layers are about 1/2 inch thick, and the circular extension is about 3/4 inch thick. Assembled with Titebond III and finished with spray poly. This was a fun build, though routing out the channels from the back of the middle layer was a bit nerve wracking. To my ear, it works about as well as the two “speaker” model I built earlier. Sound seems to be about doubled.
