This Curly Maple with Oyster sample panel is 18″ x 18″ Square x 1 3/8″ thick. The customer is wanting a full door at 1 3/8″ thick x 36″ wide x 84″ tall which will be for a door that opens up into their elevator room in their house.
She wanted to see a sample first before purchasing the full sized door.
The Diamond shaped center insert is out of Brick Oyster glued down into a routed out diamond shape. Then bending curly maple with mitered corners to fit around the inside edges that rest above the surface 1/2″. That Curly maple sure is a lot harder to carve then Mahogany or Basswood.
