Reclaimed Table
This was a commissioned piece for the Seascape Resort in Aptos Ca.
The table top and legs are made from a tree that I milled 4 years ago.
It was a 100 year old Elm tree that died standing in front of a church in downtown Santa Cruz.
There was some severe interior checking and rot, which I put to my advantage for the book-matched top.
The voids were filled with clear epoxy resin. The voids are large enough that when you look at the top of the table you can see the legs and stretchers below it.
The legs were attached to the top with fox tail dowels and the stretchers were attached to the legs with large dove tail joints.
It is finished with Minwax satin polyurethane.
