Its done…at last. It was originally going to be painted. After the wood was purchased it was decided to stain it instead. Made of poplar and paint grade birch plywood. Finish, two coats of Charles Neil blotch control, 1 coat Old Master (Kelly-Moore) “rich mahogany” gel stain, one coat Old Master “provincial” gel stain and three coats of Old Master water based varnish. 54″ wide and about 73″ high. The moldings were made with wooden molding planes. The rays in the doors were made separately and glued in place after they were shaped using rasps and spoke shaves.
