Gallery: Opepe Hardwood Garden Bench
This is a garden bench for my garden in Argyll, Scotland. It is inspired by a visit the the wonderful Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg, California. They have many benches of this type throughout the garden, normally made of redwood.
My bench is made of opepe which is a tropical hardwood from Africa. I was able to get small quantities of this wood as it is used as a marine hardwood locally.

Very nice. Elegant.
Love it, beautiful! Would love to get the plans and dimensions from you. I've got some thick Douglas Fir slabs that I could make that bench out of. Our backyard firepit area needs something exactly like that. Cheers. TJ
Thank you for the interest in the bench. I do have a sketchup drawing which I will happily let you have once i track it down. I think I must have left it on a computer that i do not have access to at present. I will try to track it down when I get back to that computer.
In the meantime you might like to have a look at the little video that I put together about hos it was assembled.

Here is a link to a sketchup drawing that closely approximates the final version of the bench.
If you do build this chair I would like to see a photo of it.
