“Bird of Paradise” Turning
Woodworking: Hal Metlitzky
Metlitzky used more than 3,000 individual pieces of wood to make this turning (11-1/2 in. dia. by 6-1/2 in. tall), including yellowheart, chakte viga, satine, holly, hard maple, rosewood, kingwood, black walnut, and stained birch. Aptly named “Bird of Paradise,” the piece has an air-brushed lacquer finish.
