Woodworker: Louis J. Plante

Plante’s Greene and Greene-inspired hall table (15 in. deep by 54 in. wide by 37 in. tall) earned the President’s Award in the novice category. It is made of walnut, mahogany, and cherry, with lacewood drawer fronts and wenge and rosewood accents. The finish is lacquer.

The San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association, in conjunction with the San Diego County Fair, presents its Design in Wood exhibition each year in Del Mar, Calif. This is one of the more than 300 pieces that were exhibited at this year’s show, the 33rd. Judges presented more than 90 awards in 24 distinct categories, from period furniture to wood carving.
