Jewelry Box
This Jewelry Box is made of marbled Crotch Walnut solids and bookmatched box elder inlays. The secondary woods are maple, ash, 1/8ply, Wenge. It features 3 layers: 2 alyers under the lid and the drawer layer. The drawer features a wood stop and fiber silencers. The drawer slides on all maple. All of the box elder was hand painted with red dye, covering the actual red dye. This process allows the wood to hold its red for a long time. The 3 compartment layer in the middle just under the lid will rotate on an axis, allowing access to stuff under this layer. Everything is removable for service. The piece is 11 by 13 by 8 high. It was made for a state PA Guild of Craftsmen exhibit for October 2014. The finish is 4 costs of satin poly sprayed. The walnut on the top is bookmatched.
