Workbench Tool Caddy
I have a VERY SMALL Shop. After working for several hours my bench frequently looks like a game of Pick-Up-Sticks for tools. One of the most vivid memories I have is opening the doors of the tool cabinet in grade seven shop class and seeing all of the tools neatly laid out on sloping shelves. (Thankyou Joe Dacca!)
As a Luthier and Boxmaker I like to have my small hand tools directly at hand. I find that if a tool is not within reach I will avoid using it. I wanted a tool stand that was small, easily portable and able to hold most of my small tools. This is what I built. Only the top shelf is structured. The bottom shelf is open to receive whatever other tools I need.
The stand is approximately 15″X15″ made of birch ply and holds over fifty tools!
Hope you enjoy it!
Kim.

Great!
I have the same 'pick up sticks' problem - made worse by the messy gene. This is a great piece of kit & an inspiration for me to keep working out a design for my own "in-reach" tools.
What a fine way to organize your tools. I've been thinking about building storage under my bench top. I was thinking drawers. Now you have provided another option for me to think about. Glad I stumbled on it before starting to design on paper. Very nice work!
Thanks for sharing your idea, KIM

Kim, this is creative, efficient, and well executed. Do you have drawings of your design?
I really like this. Art
