Contemporary Tansu-Style Buffet
This is a large dining room buffet built as a companion piece to a large Japanese tansu step-chest that I built for the same client. Both are 100% African sapele, finished with Minwax red mahogany stain and Sherwin-Williams moisture resistant lacquer. Frame & Panel construction for the most part. If you look closely you might be able to tell that the pieces is actually made up of four sections. A lower tray that the two cabinet sections rest in, all held togeher with a cap piece exactly like the lower tray. It makes the whole thing much easier to move around. Drawer and sliding door pulls all from Hida Tool.
