Tribute to Wimshurst

Materials: Ash, Ebony, Maple, Nitrile Rubber.
The title of this piece comes from the name of 19th century scientist James Wimshurst and his “Wimshurst Machine”, which is an early static electricity generator. I had seen one at the Bakken Museum in Minneapolis and was inspired to incorporate its pattern of electrical contacts.

The source of the wood for this project was a neighbor's ash tree. Dimensions: 10" x 10" x 4".
