My first real veneering project
My first veneering project that isn’t just a plain board.2-3 week afterwork project. Walnut outside, flaming birch inside. Splines in rosewood. Drawer inside of rosewood veneer, sapwood matched to create the “wave/flame” Turned the handles from walnut on the white spraypainted sliding doors. The rest is finished with spray on varnish.
Used finewoodworkings stow away router table and the technique to do mortise and tenon joint on the legs, the tapering jig to taper the legs threesided and the splinecutting jig for the tablesaw for the splines, and woodgears’ fingerjointing jig to do the dado on the legs, where the stretcher lies. All accredited to the wonderful woodgeeks of the internet that have showed me and taught me a whole lot. Especially giveing me nourishment for my mind and soul when inbetween aprenticeships and times when it all seemed impossible. Both my workshop and skills are in some way a testemony of why you should keep it on. I believe in remembering where things come from and I have a so many constant reminders of finewoodworking in my shop that it cannot go without saying that I thing about, and appreciate, the fact that one of the best influences for keepin’ on truckin’ towards my goal would be a bunch of guys from the US teaching and helping out a passionate lost apprentice way over in Norway. I hope you, and my girlfriend who is receiving this for christmas surprise, can enjoy what all this sharing of techniques can result in.
