Toy stacking pyramid with the bottom blocks removed
I just finished this toy in time for Christmas! The design is from “Making Toys that Teach” by Les Neufeld.
Wood is black walnut and maple, and I was fortunate enough to get some curly maple for the post. The base is secured to the post with a walnut dowel that is planed smooth. Blocks are hand filed at an interior angle to ensure that, either way they are inserted, they remain level. The finish is a natural oil/varnish that is non toxic in case my son decides to chew on the toy vs. stack!
