Pair of oak cabinets
The design of these cabinets references the typical TG&V panels found in colonial houses in New Zealand and the colours of Maori waka and buildings. The cabinets have two surfaces for bedside lamp, clock, books, glasses etc. The narrow side is intended to go beside the bed allowing easier access to the bed than conventional cabinets. Each cabinet has one secret compartment. The curved drawer fronts and door rails are lamiated and the frame of the door is domino jointed. The columns are turned and ebonized. Manufacture involves the use of about a dozen jigs.
