Patio trestle table
Outdoor serving table in Tennessee cedar, 47″ x 20″ x 29″ high. A simple, but I hope pleasing, design, with hints of Shaker and Greene & Greene motifs. This is my first project in cedar. I read that almost any oil or varnish finish on cedar needs to be renewed every couple of years. I didn’t want to get on that treadmill, and since this outdoor piece will alway be under roof I decided to leave it unfinished and hope that it gracefully ages like our unfinished teak patio furniture. If anyone has experience with this I’d be grateful for your advice.

Great table. I like the design, materials, and execution.
Based on my experience, you will soon have a beautiful gray table. The only issue might be with moisture pooling on the table top, which can cause different rates of drying -- i.e., warping-- and staining.
Since the structure of the table looks really solid, I expect warping to be minimal -- and if you look closely, almost all outdoor furniture is warped at least a little bit. This comes with the turf. No big deal.
Removing stains without removing patina can be an issue. Mildew remover can help. If that doesn't work, an exterior stain to match the patina can be used a few years down the line. It will still look great.
Nice work!!
Jurgen, thanks! I greatly appreciate your comments and advice!
