Cafe Chair
My first chair design, a cafe chair with joinery inspired by Carlo Mollino. Ebonized red oak and jatoba repurposed from luxury flooring project waste. This is version 1.0 but I will be making slight revisions in short order; two more inches in seat length, more tilt to the seat and back respectively and shaping over the seat slats for more comfort. The oak pieces are steam bent while the backrest is laminated. Before applying my ebonizing solution I treated the oak with powdered grape tannin, and then treated with a charcoal dust/oil pore filler. Finished with amber shellac.

Your first chair design. WOW!
This is a beautiful design executed with real skill.
Thanks for sharing the photo.
Great work!
The design is very nice. Good proportions. It must be comfortable to sit in so change it slightly if you must.
