The last workbench I will ever build
Like many others, I felt it was time for a workbench upgrade, likely this would be the last bench I build and wanted it to be unique. The design is my own, incorporating many features from my existing bench of 25 years and a few updates using the latest and greatest.
A few comments on major design features:
– This was to be an assembly table first, so lots of real estate on a nice flat top, which is 28″ x 79″,
– The Veritas Quick Release face vise is on my other bench, I would never use another,
– The Veritas Twin-Screw end vise was the only choice to allow me to clamp large objects using the dogs,
– The inlay in the front apron is modelled after a small shoulder plane I recently got from a friend,
– The cabinet in the base will hold all the tools I use while working at this bench,
– The back does not have an apron to allow me to clamp long laminations,
– Materials are curly maple and bubinga, with wenge inlay in the trestle.

Beautiful job!
Why build another bench when this one is perfect?
Well done!
