Shaker trestle table with leaf stowage and six chairs
This dining set was made for a customer who wanted a Shaker trestle table with leaves, but didn’t want the hassle of storing the leaves. So I cut notches in the upper edge of the trestle to fit the struts. Now she can easily store the leaves out of sight under the table top.
The chairs are basically No. 4 Shaker chairs. Table and chairs in cherry, finished with hand rubbed oil and urethane.

Leaves at each end extend table length from 79" to 98".

Leaves attach under the table's ends with a pair of 2' long struts. This makes the leaves bulky and difficult to store, so I cut notches in the upper edge of the trestle to hold the leaves out of sight under the table top.

The chairs are roughly a No. 4 Shaker chair. They lean back 5 degrees for comfort, and they flex with you when you shift around when sitting in them
