This jewelry chest was commissioned by a client as an anniversary gift for his wife.
The hand-dovetailed case is constructed of walnut ripped and cut to provide grain continuity around the chest. The mitered top frame holds a bookmatched birdseye maple panel. The trays are hard maple with ringholders for handles.
The chest is lined in purple satin, as favored by the intended user.
DIMENSIONS: 6 1/2″ high, 8 1/2″ deep, 12″ long.
Oil finish on exterior. Shellac polish on the trays.

The drawer front was hand cut from the front panel with the thinnest saw I had to provide the closest grain match.
The bookmatched birds eye maple top panel is shown clearly here. The top frame is set into rabbits in the case.
The trays incorporate ringholders into the handles, a design feature new (for me) in this chest. The walnut hanges are slightly visible in th is photo.
The drawer has no dividers as it was intended for several large necklaces and watches. The top, the trays, and the drawer are padded under the satin lining.
