A pair of diniing chairs
A pair of dining chairs for our home. The starting point for the design was photo of a chair by Ilmari Tapiovaara – things seen cannot be unseen! Timber is an Australian hardwood – possibly turpentine – sourced from a friend who had a tree felled and milled on his house block. Hard as glass, with some interlocking grain. Ebonised and finished with Feast and Watson Floor Seal. The first two of 6 chairs – in three different designs. Thanks to authors Peter Galpert, Kerry Pierce, Alison Ospina and contributors to FWW for their shared knowledge.

Reminiscent of Ilmari Tapiovaara designs. Very nice!
Thanks Jurgen01 - the Tapiovaara chair was my start point, but the project took me out of my comfort zone - lots of uncharted waters... But I'm more than happy with the result - so is my wife! One thing I didn't expect was the way the chairs change the dynamic at the table - we sit more upright, less informal, but still very comfortable.
