Kumiko Side Table
Woodworker: Geremy Coy
Geremy Coy transformed this small side table (9-3/4 in. deep by 9-3/4 in. wide by 26 in. high) by using kumiko latticework instead of solid aprons. The traditional cherry blossom motif is hand cut and pressed into place between the rails. “I specifically selected the cedar used for the kumiko for its tight, straight grain, which emphasizes the pattern before the material itself.” Species include cherry and Alaskan yellow cedar.
