Katrina Table
This Table was a commissioned piece for a client whose home was flooded during hurricane Katrina ten years ago in the greater New Orleans area. The marble top was the only salvaged piece intact, from the flood waters, and she wanted it saved.
The order called for me to design a table to save it, and this picture is the results.
I took inspiration from the flood waters to showcase the top in a floating environment, as it was found. The light wood is maple, and the darker is mahogany, that was salvaged from the family dinner table’s top leaves. The segmented mahogany surround top has finger joinery, and the rest of the joinery is mortis and tendons. H= 21″ D= 18″ The table is being used as a piece of artwork in the livingroom.
