The table was designed based on a picture she had from a department store. I added the pull out leaf feature after seeing the article of Tommy MacDonald’s table. The difficult part was designing the pull out leafs for a trestle table – his table had four legs.
The wood for the table was alder with walnut inlays in the table top, apron, and trestle feet. I used Danish oil to achieve the medium walnut stain she wanted followed by numerous coats of semigloss polyurethane.

Build this trestle dining table with pull out leafs for my niece out of alder. She had a picture which I used to design and build the table.
She really wanted the diamond pattern in the table top. The only way I could determine the dimensions of the diamond and adjoining pieces was to draw a full scale pattern which I hung on the wall for reference.
All of the joints were made using a Domino Joiner. I did make some joints so that the table could be disassembled for transport to her home - I did that by gluing the domino in place on one side and driving a screw through the domino on the other side.
