Small Pedestal Dining Table with Pivoting Top
The finished table in final location.
I modelled this pedestal table using FormZ 3D CAD software and then constructed it for a customer in Westminster, London UK. It is for a small flat and needed to be stored against a wall when not in use. It comfortably accommodates 4 diners. I like the fact that a pedestal table is less obstructive than a table with legs at the corners. A very satisfying project both to design and make. I am a professional cabinetmaker based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK.

A close-up of the pivot detail which used a substantial 10mm or 12mm diameter stainless steel pin. Shown in the workshop in natural American Cherry, before finishing to match other furniture.

The most crucial aspect was the assembly and cramping of the pedestal. For a good tight fit it could not be dry-assembled in it's entirety, so precision and confidence were vital.
