A Study in Coves

This lap desk was a study on cove cuts on the table saw. The base and edges have an hourglass shape which was completed on the tablesaw. The pencil holder is another cove cut on the table saw. The pencil holder has a secret compartment underneath it which you access by pushing down on one end. The woods used are Maple, White Oak and Purple Heart for the splines and pulls. There are small rare earth magnets that hold the lid closed or with the hinged joint it can be held in a lifted position for writing.
