Bench – antiqued painted finish with scalloped rails

This simple, sturdy, traditionally built pine bench is the perfect way to welcome guests into your home. It can easily fit into a hallway, in front of a bed, at the dining table, or on your front porch! This bench features traditional scalloped shaped front and rear support rails. No metal fasteners are used in my work. Each of the legs is fastened and supported using hardwood dowels and support blocks.
The bench is painted with a black base coat, white intermediate coat, and then painted a lovely blue. Following painting, extensive hand sanding and distressing is completed to give the bench a one of kind look.

Shot of the bench glue-up. I glue the entire bench together at one time. Once glued and dried, I add 4 support blocks for each leg and drill/drive the hardwood pins home

Shot is a shot of the top left hand side just priot to applying the painted coats. It takes longer to paint the piece than it does to build it! My benches are the only pieces I make where I dont saw the lumber myself. I just use big box store white pine.

Thanks BenchMarc! I get a ton of interest from around the country but shipping cost for an item of this size usually kills the deal. Shipping cost for this bench is more than the bench itself (i use freightquote.com for quoting my freight items) Goes with the territory I suppose. Does anyone else out there run into this challenge??
