My wife has been wanting a dining table since we moved into our new house. I took 3 months trying to figure out what kind to make, size, style etc. After going through all my wood scraps, I had an idea. Since I had used so many different types of wood over the years in so many projects, I thought it would be a good idea to build a table in homage to all my past projects. I have over 35 species of wood in the table top, common and exotic, with walnut on the long sides and legs/aprons. I think it is one of the best pieces I have ever done. I had to meticulously build up 3 wide boards and used solid walnut on the long sides. In all, the construction took me about 6 months.
