Murphy Bed | Mitered Raised Panel Face
This is one of the biggest projects that I’ve completed to date. It consists of two rooms worth of murphy beds. I only have pictures of the first room. The other room pictures were taken before it was compoleted. A total of four murphy beds, four sofas, and five standard bookcases. Each bed also as two inset bookcases each so really that is a total of 13 bookcases.
The Face StyleThe face I call the Jordan, because that is what the mitered door molding is called. Each bed has four large door panels that are a mitered raised panel design.
The Standard BookcasesThese Murphy bed bookcases are a little different. The base comes out deeper than the overall bed cabinet and then I back set the upper section. Each bookcase has a pull out tray that can be used for drinks with either the bed down of using the sofa.
Inset BookcasesThese are a speciality bookcases. They are needed to provide some “dead space” for the sofa arms. To utilize that dead space, I developed these inset bookcase that turn inward to provide extra pace. The bottom shelf of each inset bookcase is removable and there is an electrical outlet for cell phones or alarm clocks.
SofaWe built the Murphy Bed Sofa with stained arms instead of our normal upholstered arms.
