Dichomate Stained Cherry Buffet
This buffet was constructed from solid cherry (frame and top) and shop-made veneer plywood panels all around. I used traditional mortise/tenon joints and dovetailed drawers (front and back). The stain was a wash of potassium dichromate and the finish is shellac (as a conditioner) with Minwax wipe-on poly and wax (applied with steel wool and then buffed). The only unusual construction technique I tried was the use of UHMW plastic film tape with wooden side hung drawer slides (inspired by FWW #184). So far, the drawers are working very nicely.
If you are interested in more info on the staining technique, look up “Chemical Stains” by Bruce Wedlock.

Excellent design and craftsmanship.
Very nice work!
Thanks Jurgen. The design was a collaboration with my wife! I have posted more pictures to capture some details.
Moving on to a large desk for our home office...
Nice extra details in the new photos.
Good luck with the desk -- I hope you share photos of that, too.
