Toy chest
I built this toy chest for my son from plans in fine woodworking magazine for a blanket chest. I used African mahogany and cherry (the trim around the lid) instead of pine. Built mostly with hand tools (planes, dovetail saws) and the occasional power tool to fix mistakes. It’s my first attempt at handsawn dovetail joints. Used a soft lid stay from lee valley — works great at preventing the lid from slamming shut.

This a a really nice toy chest - an instant family heirloom.
Well done, Dad!
Beautiful job. I am concerned that children use toy boxes as hiding places. I add breathing holes in the form of open handles to my toy boxes. I will post a photo.
That's a good point, CrookedRiver. The next one will have air holes!
Thanks, Jurgen!
