This carved mirror frame was done in a style known as “Norwegian Acanthus,” which features deep, flowing acanthus vines. Montemerlo spent two year learning the basics of this type of carving. “No one in the local guilds had ever heard of this style, and there are no pieces in this style in area museums.” Not only that, but his wife wanted something to hang on a wall, as his home is already full of furniture.
