Nicely done, I just finished watching the assembly video today.
Great table.
Nice work!
A beauty!!!!!!
Well done! What did you do for the finish?
Thanks for the comments; really enjoyed making it.
Its made in light oak; I used a sanding sealer and then applied three coats of the General Finishes gloss top coat. Lightly sanded down each time, the final time with wire wool to give a slight satin sheen.
I often use the polyacrylic as it doesn't seem to affect the colour of the timber, but accentuates the grain.
I have purchased the plans for this project and intend it to be our new coffee table. Quick question CJC2, in the 2nd picture, it looks like you changed the design for the table top mounting structure, your reasons for this???
Being made of oak, the table is heavy!
i used three panels to create the top, joined with biscuits along each length, but as I envisage it may be lifted by its edges at some stage in future, i decided to provide extra support; probably over engineered, but the cross members span the joins, so will avoid the possibility of accidental damage.
Good luck with making your own table.
Cheers.
Thanks for adding the 3rd picture, it really shows what you had described.
