Honeycomb Credenza
A few years ago I began experimenting with different patterns and textures while doing some woodcarving for a sculpture . I really enjoyed one of those patterns in particular and always thought it would be fun to incorporate into a piece of furniture. That idea finally came to life and the result is the Honeycomb Credenza.
The carved doors on each side open with a hand carved pull, while rare earth magnets are used to keep them shut. The base is joined with pegged mortise and tenon joints, making for a very solid structure to support the main cabinet.
The carved doors and base are made of ebonized red oak, while the case is made of paulownia.

This is beautiful work! How did you carve that pattern?
Thanks behnfeldta,
The pattern is carved by hand using just a couple of basic gouges. Each hollow was started by first drilling a relief hole and then carving down to the bottom of the hole.
